Every decision we make during construction
is weighed against the following guidelines:
Recycle existing building materials
Use all-natural renewable materials
Reduce
energy consumption by using energy efficient products
Use superior quality material
Incorporate
low maintenance materials
Construct
in a manner that is efficient and avoids waste
How did we learn to build green?
Building green takes an education. Because, in the end, Green Building is about making educated choices.
Frankly, few have done the research or hard work necessary to effectively build green. The process is involved.
However, the results directly benefit the end use. For example, we were turned down by four a/c companies for one project,
because the requirements were too stringent. We finally ended up with an a/c system that is sized correctly and is highly
efficient. We have educated appraisers on how to value green properties. We have researched Solar Heat Gain Coefficients
on windows, providing the end user with a cooler home in the Texas heat. We have analyzed various wall and ceiling insulation
systems to provide maximum eneregy efficiency. Our home-buyers will reap the benefits.
What is our backgkround?
Green Places leadership team enjoys over 20 years of construction experience in everything from residential
to commercial construction and have successfully completed hundreds of projects. We have degrees from MIT
and U Penn and consider ourselves thoughtful folks who care about the product we are building, our impact on the environment,
and the end user’s satisfaction.
