Lower Your School’s Emissions
Greenplaces all-in-one sustainability platform makes it easy to meet your sustainability goals, no matter where you’re starting from. We are proud to be a sponsor of the 2023 TABS conference and to celebrate, we will plant 100 trees on behalf of any TABS campus that completes a platform demo by December 31.
CASE STUDY
Collaborating with Durham Academy
Durham Academy partnered with Greenplaces to measure their carbon footprint, develop strategies for reducing the school’s footprint and engage the student body. Students helped gather data for and produced visuals to engage the broader community and help build an understanding of greenhouse gas emissions within the institution.
“They’ve been a close partner, helping us measure our emissions and engage students, parents, and faculty in the whole process. We’re happy with what their work has meant for our sustainability efforts and student knowledge of the sustainability discipline. Their team has been flexible, positive and fun – for our students as much as our adults.”
– Michael Ulku-Steiner, Head of School, Durham Academy
Listen to Greenplaces recent conversation with Durham Academy
In this episode, Alex talks with Tina Bessias, Sustainability Coordinator at Durham Academy. DA is training the next generation of climate champions by teaching students about carbon footprints, waste generation, and more as a part of their primary education. Tina, along with a student government sustainability committee work to ensure the K-12 school in Durham, N.C. is doing its part to reduce its footprint, and teach students to do the same through courses on the topic. Alex and Tina discuss why the school has introduced combating the climate crisis to their curriculum and the impact these lessons can have on the planet.
