What Microsoft requires
Microsoft explicitly does NOT use EcoVadis. Uses proprietary Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability (MCfS) platform instead. EcoVadis is not accepted.
CDP replaced by MCfS platform. Not accepted as substitute.
Instead: 55% absolute emissions reduction by 2030 + 100% carbon-free electricity (CFE) by 2030. Custom targets, not SBTi.
GHG scopes required: S1 · S2 (loc+market) · S3 (cats 1–8) · SLA emissions.
What happens if you don't meet it
Suppliers who fail to meet Microsoft’s requirements face a lower procurement ranking, up to exclusion from sourcing. Stated consequence: Procurement exclusion.
